Crownthorpe - winegrowing in a cooler climate

The upper reaches of the Ngaruroro River Valley shelter the inland, elevated terraces of the Crownthorpe sub-region of Hawkes Bay.

In contrast to the Hawke's Bay's warmer coastal plain, Crownthorpe experiences lower temperatures at daytime peaks and night-time dips, thus preserving a freshness that perfectly complements the attractive fruit characteristics.

Monowai is the first family owned winemaker to establish itself in this promising new district.
